Connect Dynamics 365 (Read-only)

Dataverse app-only access is granted per environment. Add this application as an Application User in your Power Platform environment and assign it a security role with read-only privileges — the role you assign is what makes this connection read-only.

1. Open the Power Platform admin center and select your environment.
2. Settings → Users + permissions → Application users → + New app user.
3. + Add an app, search for the client ID above, and select it.
4. Pick a business unit, then assign a security role with read-only privileges.
5. Create. Repeat in each environment the agent should access.

No licence is required. An application user is a service principal, not a person: it does not consume a Dynamics 365 licence, does not appear as a named user, and does not need to be created as an employee. Assigning the security role is the whole grant.

Prefer the app registration to live in your own tenant? That works too — create it there and send us the application (client) ID and a client secret. No API permission needs to be added to it: for app-only access the security role on the application user is the entire grant. We will then use your registration for your environment instead of the one above, so you keep the ability to revoke it.
